The Illustrated Interview

Adapted from T Magazines own interview campaign, the Illustrated Interview is an exercise in which students are able to express themselves visually. It is intended to be given at the beginning of the academic year as a warm-up exercise for students to understand their peers interests, as well as their visual style.

In my example, depicted above, I utilized my background in digital media, with my passion of hands on work (as depicted through the ink work). I interpreted the assignment as a way to better understand myself through the trope of a Rorschach test, alluding to the fact that we are expressing ourselves through an introspective evaluation.

The answers to the above blanks are as follows (left to right, section 1 to section 2):

  1. Me with a screen in front of myself; buried in work

  2. Lobster roll

  3. My partner

  4. Rick and Morty

  5. An artist

  6. Attempting to fix and/or build things (like my motorcycle)

  7. Time

  8. A cloning machine of myself

  9. Physical features to better align to societies standards of beauty (but I go back and forth between this idea)

  10. An ominous blob figure

  11. Milo the dog

  12. Bill Nye
